On September 5, 2017 the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released a trilateral statement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada following the conclusion of the second round of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) renegotiations held September 1 – 5, 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico.

During the five day meeting, over two dozen working groups drove to advance considerations of varying ideas and proposals. According to the trilateral statement, “In several groups, this engagement resulted in the consolidation of proposals into a single text upon which the teams will continue to work during subsequent negotiation rounds.”

The third round of negotiations will be held September 23 – 27, 2017 in Ottawa, Canada. Additional rounds are planned throughout the year.
