On September 27, 2019, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) issued two separate notices announcing additional exclusions on products subject to the first two lists of Section 301 tariffs.
The exclusions cover an additional 204 product descriptions, with 93 exclusions from the first list and 111 from the second list.
Product descriptions listed include, but are not limited to:
List 1
- Certain safety valves;
- Motors of various types;
- Various machines under Chapter 84;
List 2
- Certain copper wire;
- Various multimeters;
- Certain thermometers.
The exclusions are retroactive to July 6, 2018, for the products on list 1, and August 23, 2018, for products on list 2. These exclusions can be claimed under 9903.88.19 and 9903.88.20 respectively.
