USDA Issues Sugar Tariff-Rate Quotas for FY 2021

On July 9, 2020, in a Federal Register Notice (FRN), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 tariff-rate quota levels for raw cane sugar, specialty sugar, and certain sugars, syrups, and molasses referred to as refined sugar.  The quantities for specialty sugar will be allocated across five tranches throughout the course of the FY, with the first tranche beginning October 1, 2020.  The total in-quota aggregate quantities are:

  • Raw cane sugar: 1,117,195 metric tons raw volume (MTRV)
  • Certain sugars, syrups, and molasses: 162,000 MTRV
  • Specialty sugar: 141,656 MTRV
