On January 24, 2018, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned overseas representatives of North Korea, Korean shipping companies, and Chinese entities that support the Kim Regime in response to North Korea’s violations of U.N. Security Council resolutions and ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction.

In a statement, Secretary of the Treasury Steven T. Mnuchin said, “We are sanctioning additional oil, shipping, and trading companies that continue to provide a lifeline to North Korea to fuel this regime's nuclear ambitions and destabilizing activities."

The sanctions prohibit U.S. persons from dealing with any of the designated parties and block the property or interests in property of the designated persons that are in the control or possession of U.S. persons.
