Update: FWS Announces DPEPs Will Be Issued for Non-Staffed Ports and ITDS

Posted by Sarah Lilly on 12/14/16 4:40 PM

On December 13, 2016 U.S. Fish and Wildlife (FWS) published a Notice to the Import/Export Community announcing that the previous decision to no longer issue Designated Port Exception Permits (DPEP) has been rescinded.

FWS and CBP are currently working on determining what processing changes will need to be made in ACE to allow the DPEP process to function. Until this has been resolved, “importers will not be able to pilot in ACE with the FWS at these non-staffed port locations. They will, however, be able to continue to obtain FWS clearance at these non-staffed ports, through eDecs, as they have in the past.”
