The United Kingdom (UK) published the UK Global Tariff (UKGT) that will replace the European Union’s Common External Tariff as of 1 January 2021.

The UK Global Tariff:

  • Will apply to all goods imported into the UK unless an exception applies such as a relief or tariff suspension, goods qualifying under Generalised Scheme of Preferences or under other trade agreements with the UK;
  • Does not cover other duties such as VAT, details of the trade remedies measures, and other restrictions on imports like antidumping, countervailing, or safeguards; and
  • Simplifies and liberalises some tariffs.

The guidance includes a spreadsheet of the full UKGT with the changes made to each tariff.
