On March 13, 2019, the government of the United Kingdom (UK) published guidance on the New Computerized Transit System (NCTS), as the UK will no longer be able to access the Common Transit Convention (CTC) once they leave the European Union.

The UK plans to implement changes to the NCTS in four phases to reflect the change in country status and to align the NCTS with the CTC.

The changes will include:

  • Removal of the requirement to submit Transports Internationaux Routiers movements to NCTS;

  • Manage guarantees within NCTS and reference the amount of goods in the declaration;

  • The mandatory inclusion of the Office of Transit field on the transit declaration.

The guidance also provides additional details on the completion of the transit declaration.
