In a press release published on March 5, 2026, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) and the Mexican Secretary of Economy announced the first round of bilateral discussions for the joint review of the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Negotiators are expected to begin a “scoping discussion” to “ensure the benefits of the Agreement accrue primarily to the parties, including by reducing dependence on imports from outside the region, strengthening rules of origin, and enhancing the security of North American supply chains.”

The first week of the joint review is expected to occur during the week of March 16, 2026.
