U.K. and U.S. Launch Trade Negotiations

On May 5, 2020, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and the United Kingdom Secretary of State for International Trade Elizabeth Truss announced that first round of trade negotiations between the U.S. and the U.K. will be conducted over the next two weeks via teleconferencing.  Both countries cited strengthened economies, trade, and investment opportunities as benefits of the free trade agreement they hope to reach.
