In a Federal Register Notice (FRN) published by the Department of State, a final rule was issued that amends the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) by “increasing and specifying the fees required for registration with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC).”
This rule will raise registration fees at each tier. Tier 1 registration will increase from $2,250 to $3,000 per year, and the Tier 2 and 3 registrations will increase from $2,750 to $4,000. In addition, Tier 3 registrants will face a higher fee for each favorable license determination, which increased from $250 to $1,100 each.
The DDTC will allow certain Tier 1 registrants to apply for a discount of $500 on their registration fee if they can prove “that $3,000 was 1 percent or more of their total revenue for the last calendar year.”
This final rule is effective on January 9, 2025.
