President Trump Announces Additional Tariffs on Canadian Aluminum

On August 6, 2020, U.S. President Donald Trump issued Proclamation on Adjusting Imports of Aluminum Into the United States announcing additional duties on certain aluminum products from Canada under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.

The additional duties will be 10% ad valorem on “imports of non-alloyed unwrought aluminum provided for in subheading 7601.10.” The additional duties will be effective August 16, 2020.
