President Trump Announces Additional Aluminum and Steel Tariffs

On January 24, 2020, U.S. President Donald Trump issued Proclamation on Adjusting Imports of Derivative Aluminum Articles and Derivative Steel Articles into the United States announcing additional duties on certain steel and aluminum products under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.

The additional duties will be 10% ad valorem on certain aluminum products and 25% ad valorem on certain steel products.  The list of affected products has not yet been released, but examples given in the proclamation include steel nails and aluminum wires and cables.  The complete list will be published in a Federal Register Notice.

The additional duties will be effective February 8, 2020.
