On March 21, 2025, the Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) published a final rule in the Federal Register to extend certain recordkeeping requirements from 5 years to 10 years.

The final rule adopts an interim final rule published on September 13, 2024, which extended recordkeeping requirements to align with an extension of the statute of limitations for violations under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) from 5 years to 10 years. The final rule addresses comments received on the interim final rule, however makes no changes to the interim final rule.

The final rule became effective on March 21, 2025.
