OFAC Announces Sanctions on Turkey

Posted by Kelsay Calvaruso on 6/9/20 5:00 PM

On June 5, 2020, the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a final rule implementing sanctions against Turkey originally published in Executive Order 13894, entitled “Blocking Property and Suspending Entry of Certain Persons Contributing to the Situation in Syria.”  OFAC originally imposed and subsequently removed these sanctions in October 2019.

According to the final rule, “OFAC intends to supplement these regulations with a more comprehensive set of regulations, which may include additional interpretive and definitional guidance, general licenses, and statements of licensing policy.”  As of 5PM (PDT) on June 9, 2020, OFAC had not yet supplemented the regulations.
