In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) bulletin published on February 3, 2026, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided updated guidelines on the seafood import restrictions in the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).

The guidance reviews all the information that is required to complete the certification of admissibility, how to file the certification in the document imaging system (DIS), and what steps the importer needs to take after the release of the shipment.

These import restrictions on seafood went into effect on January1, 2026.
