Next COAC Meeting Scheduled for March 1, 2017

In a Federal Register notice to be published on February 10, 2017, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the upcoming meeting of the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee (COAC), held in Washington, D.C. on March 1, 2017. The meeting will be open to the public and will also be accessible via a live webinar.

According to the notice, the COAC meeting will include the following topics:

  • Trade Modernization Subcommittee: Discuss the progress of the International Engagement and Trade Facilitation Working Group, the Revenue Modernization Working Group, as well as, the initiation of the Rulings and Decisions Working Group. The recently created E-Commerce Working Group will discuss their progress.
  • Exports Subcommittee Manifest Working Group: The Truck Manifest Sub-Working Group and Post Departure Filing Group will discuss their progress.
  • One U.S. Government Subcommittee: Progress on the completion of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Single Window effort and core functions. The Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Working Group will also provide an update.
  • Trade Enforcement and Revenue Collection (TERC) Subcommittee: Progress on the recommendations from the Antidumping and Countervailing Duty, the Intellectual Property Rights Working Group, including Forced Labor Working Group recommendations.
  • Global Supply Chain Subcommittee: An update of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) working group will be discussed.
  • Trusted Trader Subcommittee: Discuss enhanced Trusted Trader vision that will engage with CBP and Partner Government Agencies (PGA) to potentially allow for international interoperability.

The COAC advises the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Secretary of the Treasury, and the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on the commercial operations of CBP and other related Department functions.
