USTR and USDA Announce Changes to Beef Exports to Colombia

On January 27, 2016 the United States Trade Representative (USTR) along with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced an agreement has been made with the Colombian government to relax certain certification requirements on exports of U.S. beef and beef products.

In May 2012 the U.S. and Colombia entered into the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement (CTPA) and since that time U.S. beef and beef products entering Colombia has increased exponentially. According to the notice both countries have “agreed to changes in certification statements that will allow beef and beef products from all federally inspected U.S. establishments to be eligible for export to Colombia.”
