New York-Newark Terminals Open After Hurricane Sandy

On November 4, 2012, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey issued a press release informing the public that the Elizabeth Port opened for business on this day, and that both the Port Newark and Global Terminal would be open on the morning November 5, while Port Newark Container Terminal would resume operations at night.

The port was closed last week as a result of Hurricane Sandy, which caused damage to electrical systems, shipping containers, roads and railways.

East Coast Symposium Trade Rescheduled

On November 2, 2012, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) posted a notice on their website announcing that the East Coast Trade Symposium 2012 has been rescheduled for November 27-28.

On their website, CBP notes that all registration fees will be reimbursed within 14 days. Priority will be given to attendees who are already registered. Information on the new location and registration process will be posted soon.
