On June 11, 2015, the House of Representatives passed the Trade Preferences Extension Act of 2015 (H.R. 1295) to retroactively reinstate the General System of Preference (GSP), renew the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), and provide enhanced trade benefits for Haiti.
The House passed the bill with a 397-32 majority and is now pending the Senate’s approval before the President can sign the legislation into law.
The bill would retroactively apply benefits to goods eligible under GSP, and extend the program until December 31, 2017.
