In a Federal Register to be published on October 15, 2015, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be announcing modifications to the National Customs Automation Program (NCAP) test for the Document Image System (DIS). The DIS allows participants to “submit electronic images of a specific set of CBP and Partner Government Agency (PGA) forms, documents, and supporting information to CBP via a CBP-approved Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).”

There were five main changes to the DIS test:

  • Eligibility has expanded and now includes anyone that transmits cargo releases or entry summary information to Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
  • Additional forms have been added to the forms and documents list
  • CBP will now maintain the forms and documents list on their website
  • The CBP website will announce any future additions or changes to the forms and documents list
  • All eligible DIS forms and documents will additionally be able to be submitted as an email attachment

The effective date of the modifications to the DIS test will begin on October 15, 2015 and run until a Federal Register announce their conclusion. Follow the link to learn more about the changes here
