On May 26, 2015, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #15-000301 announcing the revised date for exporters to participate in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) to be June 1, 2015.
The CSMS specifies that, “The previous deployment attempt was delayed due to technical issues involving system response time. This issue has since been resolved, and additional testing will be conducted over the next week to further ensure system stability.”
Main benefits for exporters will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prioritized export shipments
- Global security partnerships
- Heightened facilitation from mutually recognized customs partners
- Access to C-TPAT sponsored security seminars
- Reduced examinations
CBP also stated that, “During the deployment, the system will be unavailable, from approximately 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 to 3:00 a.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Data migration will not be complete until late on May 31st, so the system may not be available until June 1, 2015.”
