Mexico Updates Automatic Permit Requirements

On December 1, 2017, Mexico’s Ministry of Economy published through the Federation Official Daily Annex 2.2.2, updating the criteria for obtaining automatic permits for select import products.

The change primarily affect materials, textiles, and footwear in chapters 51, 52, 54, 55, 60, 61, 62 and 64 of the Harmonized Tariff system.   Export documentation will no longer be required from the exporting country when over the benchmark price.  While the goods will continue to require the import automatic permit, the permit can be obtained with a commercial invoice of the goods and a Spanish translation.

The changes went into force on the day of the publication.
