Mexico Publishes Alternative Transition Regime for Auto Industry under USMCA/T-MEC/CUSMA

On April 30, 2020, in the Diario Oficial, Mexico published an Alternative Transition Regime for the auto industry under the framework of the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, known as USMCA in the US, T-MEC in Mexico, and CUSMA in Canada. This new regulation allows vehicles manufacturers to submit an application to extend the compliance period for up to 5 years in order to meet the new automotive eligibility requirements.  It also details the requirements to submit the application, including commitment to comply with the new rules.  The application deadline is July 1, 2020.
