Mexico Modifies Tariffs on Electronic Cigarettes and Similar Devices

On July 16, 2021, in the Diario Oficial, Mexico published a decree modifying the tariff schedule. The primary change was made to the description of statistical breakout 8543.70.18 to account for Electronic Nicotine Administration Systems and Similar Nicotine-Free Systems, electronic cigarettes, and vaporizing devices with similar uses, except cartridges heating devices or removable units with tobacco. National Note 16 of Chapter 85 was also amended to reflect this change. It is important to note that imports or exports of goods under this classification are forbidden. The decree entered into force on the following day of publication.
