Labor Department Launches New Supply Chain Forced Labor Tools

In a press release published on April 8, 2026, the U.S. Department of Labor announced new voluntary self-assessment tools to “strengthen their global supply chains, protect their brands, and defend American workers from unfair competition due to labor abuses overseas.”

The tools developed are:

  • Labor Shield: A mobile app that provides information on labor violations in over 145 countries.
  • Import Watch: Combines U.S. import labor abuse data with information from the U.S. Census bureau to produce a list of high-risk goods for U.S. importers.
  • Sourcing Strong: A tool to assist U.S. businesses build forced labor due diligence systems and supply chain risk management.
  • Supply Chain Traceability Portal: “Provides visibility across supply chains and beyond the first tier to expose where exploitative labor hides.”

These voluntary tools are available to U.S. companies as of the day of publication.
