In a Federal Register Notice (FRN) published on June 21, 2016 the International Trade Commission (ITC) announced they began investigation on, “Probable Economic Effect of Certain Modification to the U.S.-Chile FTA Rules of Origin”, a request issued by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representatives (USTR).

The proposed changes would allow, “certain woven fabrics of artificial filament yarn provided for in subheadings 5408.22-5408.23 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)” to qualify for preferences under the FTA after a heading change from the same chapter.

On August 24, 2016 the effects of the proposed modifications must be transmitted the USTR. Written comments may be submitted until July 11, 2016.
