GSP Goods Subject to Section 201 Measures

On April 26, 2018, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) provided guidance with regard to GSP-eligible merchandise that is subject to the Section 201 safeguard remedies.

In Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #18-000307, CBP stated that goods that would normally be subject to GSP duty preference, that are now also covered by Section 201, may not receive GSP treatment. The Section 201 measures cover certain solar cells, solar panels, washing machines and washing machine parts, and currently, the only GSP-eligible origins of these goods are Thailand and the Philippines.
