EU Pauses Countermeasures Against U.S. for 90 Days

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a 90-day pause in the European Union’s trade countermeasures, which were scheduled to go into effect on April 15, 2025, in a statement published on April 9, 2025.

President von der Leyen reaffirmed her desire to negotiate with the United States but stated that “all options remain on the table” and that if negotiations were not “satisfactory,” countermeasures would be implemented.
