On February 12, 2021, the European Union (EU) Commission published frequently asked questions (FAQs) on the export requirements for Covid-19 vaccines. The export controls were implemented on January 29, 2021 and are effective through March 31, 2021.

The FAQs are intended to serve as guidance for exporters and include clarification on:

  • Which products are subject to controls;
  • Which goods and countries are excluded from the scope of the regulation; and
  • Customs procedures.

A template for an export authorization application is also provided for exporters. The template can be used when the Member State’s competent authority has not made one available yet.
