EPA Issues SNURs Under TSCA for 8 Chemicals

On October 28, 2019, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued significant new use rules (SNURs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for eight chemicals in Federal Register Notice (FRN) 84 FR 57612.  This requires notifying the EPA at least 90 days before beginning any manufacturing or processing for the SNUR.

The affected chemicals are as follows:

  • “Substituted carbocycle, N-[[[4-[[(4-substituted carbocyclic)amino]sulfonyl]carbocyclic]amino]carbonyl]-4-methyl- (generic);
  • Aliphatic polyester (generic);
  • Modified acrylic polymer (generic);
  • Functionalized polyimide and functionalized polyamide (generic);
  • Siloxanes and Silicones, di-Me, 3-hydroxypropyl Me, Me 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6-nonafluorohexyl;
  • Carboxylic acids, C6-18 and C8-15-di-, polymers with diethylene glycol, glycerol, oleic acid, phthalic, acid and sorbitol.”

This rule takes effect on December 27, 2019.
