In a Fact Sheet published on June 19, 2017, the Department of Commerce (Commerce) made a preliminary affirmative antidumping determination that certain hardwood plywood products from the People’s Republic of China and is instructing U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to impose cash deposits based on the preliminary rates.
According to the notice, “For purposes of this proceeding, hardwood and decorative plywood is defined as a generally flat, multilayered plywood or other veneered panel, consisting of two or more layers or plies of wood veneers and a core, with the face and/or back veneer made of non-coniferous wood (hardwood) or bamboo.” Merchandise covered by this investigation is typically imported under the following headings of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States: 4412.10.0500 – 4412.94.9500.
The rates are as follows:
- 72% - Shandong Dongfang Bayley Wood Co., Ltd.
- 00% - Linyi Chengen Import and Export Co., Ltd./ Linyi Dongfangjuxin Wood Co., Ltd.
- 36% - Separate Rate Companies
- 72 - % All Others
The final determination will be will be announced on or about August 31, 2017, unless the deadline is extended.
