On April 10, 2020, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) imposed compulsory commodity inspection on exports of certain medical supplies effective immediately according to the Law of China on Import and Export Commodity Inspection and its implementing regulations. This measure is an enhancement to the previously announced quality control measures on COVID-19 related medical supplies from April 1, 2020.
The increased inspection applies to 11 products of medical supplies covered in 19 10-digit subheadings, see list attached. The products include medical and surgical masks, surgical protective suits, ventilators, infrared thermometers, medical surgical caps, medical and surgical goggles, medical and surgical gloves, medical and surgical shoe covers, patient monitoring system, absorbent cotton gauze and bandages, and medical disinfectants.
According to China Customs’ internal guideline, this requirement will be implemented through “additional verification procedure on documents and cargo.”
