Census Announces Updated HTS and Schedule B Added to Automated Export System (AES)

On July 5, 2017 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000391 on behalf of the U.S. Census Bureau advising that, “the Schedule B, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and HTS Codes That Are Not Valid for AES tables have been updated to accept the changes to the July 1, 2017 codes.”

Census also advised a 30 day grace period will be in effect for any outdated codes that are submitted past the June 30, 2017 expiration date. If any outdated code is submitted beyond the 30 days a fatal error will be generated. The updates and grace period will also be in effect for ACE AESDirect.

These updates are effective immediately.
