CBSA Announces Implementation of Canada-Ukraine FTA

On July 12, 2017 the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) released Customs Notice 17-23 announcing the implementation date for the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) which will be on August 1, 2017.

The CUFTA will eliminate the majority of customs duties on imports of Ukrainian goods to Canada, with a few agricultural good exceptions. Passenger automobiles will be on a tariff phase-out schedule, while all other goods will have the duties eliminated immediately.

The implementation legislation for CUFTA was received on June 1, 2017 by Royal Assent.
