CBP Updates E-Commerce FAQ

In an update to their website published on August 22,2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) updated their E-Commerce Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page to provide the trade with guidance on the suspension of duty-free treatment for low-value shipments.

Under Executive Order (EO) 14324, duty-free de minimis treatment for shipments valued at or under $800 would no longer be available for shipments from all countries. Those shipments will be subject to all relevant admissibility requirements and assessment of duties.

The FAQ reviews questions on several topics including the new CBP Form 5106, bond requirements, and duty payment on postal and non-postal shipments.

The suspension of duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value shipments will begin on August 29, 2025.
