CBP to Deploy Automated Enforcement of Entry Type 86 Filing Deadlines

Posted by Timothy Miller on 8/7/24 5:00 PM

In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) bulletin published on August 5, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced an update to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) that will enforce the requirement for Entry Type 86 transactions to be filed prior or upon arrival of the cargo.

If an Entry Type 86 is filed after the arrival of the cargo, the entry will be rejected with the new error code: “283-ET86 Entry Not Allowed After Arrival.” The rejected entry and cargo “will be held until a different and appropriate entry is made.”

This update will be deployed to ACE on August 17, 2024.
