On December 5, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued two bulletins via its Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) providing guidance on upcoming quota periods for tuna and beef, respectively.

Each CSMS specifies details about the quotas, including:

  • Quota amounts allowed from various countries;
  • Eligible Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers; and
  • Special instructions for each quota.

The quota period for each commodity will open on January 2, 2024.
