CBP Issues Guidance on Section 301 List 2 Round 1 Exclusion Extensions

On August 7, 2020, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #43600625, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued guidance on the extension of specific Section 301 Tranche 2 exclusions. These extensions are outlined in Federal Register Notice (FRN) 85 FR 45949 and will be effective through December 31, 2020. They include 14 description based exclusions originally under 9903.88.12 including:

  • Specific gasoline and liquid propane engines;
  • Certain hand-cleaning dispensers; and
  • Digital clinical thermometers.

9903.88.12 expired on July 31, 2020, but the extended exclusions can be claimed under 9903.88.54 through their expiration in December.
