CBP Announces Tuna in Airtight Containers Tariff-Rate Quotas for Fiscal Year 2017

In a Federal Register notice, published on May 18, 2017, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the tariff-rate quotas (TRQ) for tuna in airtight containers for the Calendar Year 2017.

According to the release, “It has been determined that 14,609,465 kilograms of tuna in airtight containers may be entered, or withdrawn from warehouse, for consumption at the rate of 6.0 percent ad valorem under subheading 1604.14.22, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) during the Calendar Year 2017.” Any applicable tuna that exceeds this quota will be dutiable at 12.5% ad valorem.

The TRQs will be effective from January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2017.
