CBP Announces Date and Agenda for Next COAC Meeting

In a Federal Register Notice published on August 29, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee (COAC) will conduct its next quarterly meeting on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

In addition, CBP outlined the agenda for the COAC meeting. Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • Updates from the Antidumping/Countervailing Duty (AD/CVD), The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Process Modernization, and the Forced Labor Working Groups;
  • Proposed recommendations to “re-envision” the Customs Broker Licensing Exam;
  • Cyber incident guidance for brokers;
  • Evaluation of the Centers of Excellence and Expertise internal structure, their interactions with ports and consideration of expanding their responsibilities;

CBP will also be accepting public comments for this meeting. Comments must be received in writing no later than September 13, 2024. The webinar link and conference number for virtual attendees will be published by 5:00 p.m. EST on September 17, 2024.
