CBP and FDA To Implement Uniform Refusal Notification Process

On September 28, 2022, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #53437940, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that a streamlined notification process for post release refusals will be implemented effective October 1, 2022. According to the CSMS, “The process will allow for the timely issuance of the demand for redelivery of goods refused by the FDA.” The new process was piloted in several ports beginning in 2021.
