On December 9, 2019, the Canadian Exporting Reporting System (CERS) became available. CERS will replace the current export declaration submission program, Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED), on June 30, 2020 when CAED is retired.
In a guide, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) lists several benefits to the new system:
- It’s an online portal with a similar registration process as the eManifest Portal;
- It provides data validation prior to declaration submission; and
- It allows for reporting and bulk data uploading.
CBSA also outlines the piloting and onboarding process for CERS, with pilots beginning in January and onboarding through the June 30th decommission date for CAED.
