BIS Issues Cybersecurity Export Control Rule FAQs

On November 12, 2021, the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) issued Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the new export controls related to cybersecurity that go into effect on January 19, 2022. The document includes 29 numbered questions and provides guidance, for example, on when a license is required and the meaning of several terms within the context of the new controls.
