Argentina Publishes New Regulation on Electrical Security

On July 20, 2017 Argentina’s Ministry of Production published Ruling 1150-E/2017 which establishes that imported goods that do not meet the local market electrical standards must submit a request of adaptation to the national market.

The adaptation request must be done for previously certified devices through the Trámites a Distancia (TAD) platform and submitted to the Loyalty Commercial Direction.

Certain products will be allowed to enter without a local market adaptation certificate when they contain certain cables with permitted plugs (IRAM 2063/2073). Those with plugs of different geometries may be entered when their power cord contains some connector endorsed by the standard IEC60320 certification. Additionally a warning label should also be present that the cable to be used is the one with the Argentinean plug. These products include:

  • Laptops
  • Handheld Computers
  • Video Cameras
  • Photography Cameras

Ruling 1150-E/2017 entered into force on July 21, 2017. The ruling can be accessed at:
