APHIS Issues Updates

On March 27, 2020, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #42176039, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced that all regular plant and product import and export services are being provided.  Additionally, APHIS will accept electronic phytosanitary certificates and the Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) Form 203 via the Document Imaging System (DIS) or via email during the COVID-19 emergency.

On March 31, 2020, in CSMS #42213693, APHIS announced the implementation of phase six of the Lacey Act enforcement schedule.  Phase six will go into effect on October 1, 2020 and affects products including certain essential oils, wood cases, and musical instruments.  APHIS is seeking public comments through June 1, 2020.
