Possible U.S. Rail Union Strike: July 14, 2022

Written by Expeditors | Jul 14, 2022 8:37:31 PM

As the negotiations between the U.S. railroads and the unions remain at an impasse, and with the 30-day cooling-off period coming to an end, the possibility of a strike on Monday is looming.

99.5% of the participating members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen voted to authorize a strike.

The White House could form an emergency board to help resolve the disagreements, but unless the administration acts, either party is free to exercise “self-help” options — including a strike that could occur as early as 12:01 a.m. next Monday
