Super Typhoon Ragasa is currently moving into the South China Sea, with a projected path over Hong Kong, Hainan, the Leizhou Peninsula, and onward to Hanoi.

Sustained wind speeds are approximately 130 mph. Severe weather conditions are disrupting airport operations across the region:
  • Hong Kong International Airport has suspended all flights for 36 hours beginning Tuesday evening local time, marking the longest operational shutdown in its history.
  • Taipei, Macao, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou airports are reporting reduced flight schedules subject to weather developments.
  • Cathay Pacific has canceled over 500 flights.
  • Thousands of cancellations and delays are expected.

Recovery of transportation and logistics networks will take several days, with cargo backlogs anticipated. Shipments involving pharmaceuticals, perishables, and e-commerce are at elevated risk. Infrastructure damage, including flooding and power outages, will extend recovery timelines. The storm’s wide geographic impact will disrupt international airfreight schedules and reduce available capacity until full restoration.
