Access to French ports will be blocked between March 21st and March 23rd as dockers continue to protest against the pension reform project.
The industrial action is part of a nationwide movement against pension system changes that lift the retirement age by two years to 64.
During that time, only a limited number of containers will be allowed to enter or leave the terminals.
Backlogs and delays for both imports and exports are building up as chassis and containers are tied up in yards outside the ports, and limited appointments/work hours at the port are available.
Rail, barge, and truck services are available for inland transportation to/from ports; however, these operations are limited by blockages and bottlenecks caused by protestor actions.
Customers should expect shipment delays.
We continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. Please reach out to your Expeditors contacts should you have any questions.
