On the evening of March 13th, Shenzhen announced a city wide lockdown from March 13th to 20th, due to COVID-19 outbreak in the city, which is impacting business activities.

  • Ocean terminals in Yantian, Shekou and Da Chan Bay are still operational. The road for domestic transportation is still allowed but subject to local authority & customer’s acceptance of Shenzhen based truckers.
  • The lockdown also impacts empty container pick up as outside depots who supply empty containers have limited operation.
  • The terminals in Hong Kong are also operational, however, cross border trucking to Hong Kong is almost suspended with extremely limited capacity and prioritizing Hong Kong living necessities.
  • Vendors located in South China are finding alternative options such as amending bookings to later sailings or arranging shipments via Ocean feeder services.
  • All Shenzhen bonded logistics zones (including Futian, Yantian & Qianhai) are closed from March 14 and no warehouse activities are allowed.
  • Shenzhen airport terminal remains operational but with 30% reduced capacity. Airlines are evaluating whether to cancel flights.
