Precautions on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19): Mar. 13, 2020

In China, the government in both Beijing and Shanghai announced stricter measures for travelers. The government in India has suspended all visas effective today (March 13, 2020). 


China
The Beijing Municipal Party Committee announced stricter measures for travelers to Beijing. The measures include a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine requirement for travelers returning to Beijing from all other countries. Further, all business travelers are now required to stay at a designated hotel and undergo compulsory COVID-19 testing. In Shanghai, the now obligatory 14-day self-quarantine process applies to travelers from the following eight countries:

  • South Korea
  • Italy
  • Iran
  • Japan
  • France
  • Spain
  • Germany
  • The United States

India
The government of India announced a suspension of all visas effective March 13, 2020 at the port of departure. The only exceptions are diplomatic, official, UN/international organizations, employment, and project visas. Additionally, visa-free entry for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) is suspended until April 15, 2020.
